Visit the Center for the Secret of Peace in Rwanda

Visitors are always welcome to the Center for the Secret of Peace. It truly is a place of peace in a beautiful setting along Lake Kivu.

There are many reasons that inspire visitors and pilgrims to visit the Center. Some people come with broken hearts or broken lives in need of healing and peace. Some come praying for the hope of reconciliation and restored relationships. Still others come to learn more about the work of Fr. Ubald, the “apostle of forgiveness,” to pray at his grave.

Whether you join us by attending Mass, praying with other visitors, walking the expansive grounds, or simply sitting in silence, our hope is that you encounter the peace that truly passes all human understanding and receive the grace and healing that comes from forgiveness.

A place of healing, peace, and reconciliation in Rwanda

Each month over 12,000 pilgrims, retreatants, and visitors come to the Center for the Secret of Peace for personal healing, Mass, prayer, group retreats, or to pray at Fr. Ubald’s graveside. The Center hosts a full daily schedule of opportunities for group and private prayer including: Holy Mass; Eucharistic Adoration; Rosary; Divine Mercy Chaplet; Chaplet of Seven Sorrows.

On the 13th of each month the Center hosts a special Healing Mass—a tradition begun by Fr. Ubald—in honor of Our Lady of Fatima who appeared in Portugal on the 13th of the month.

Visitors come from as nearby as next door, from every part of Rwanda, all of East Africa, Europe, and the United States.

The Center does not yet have any café or place for guests to buy food or drink. And there are no overnight accommodations. The master site plan includes construction of a hospitality center with a café, and retreat center to accommodate overnight guests.

The Building Project

Father Ubald was a visionary. He knew that there was a need to provide a dedicated place for the thousands of people from Rwanda; the neighboring countries of Burundi, Congo, Tanzania, Uganda; and from all corners of the world who would come seeking reconciliation, healing, and peace.

He had an inspired vision to build out and fully develop the 70-acre property that is home to the Center for the Secret of Peace.
